What We Said
An outbreak of RCD/RHD/VHD, (depending on who you are talking to), has been confirmed by APHIS in Utah.

The infected Rabbits had attended a show prior to the onset of disease symptoms that was attended by Rabbits from surrounding states and Canada. Rabbits from the infected herd were shipped to Montana, Idaho and Illinois.

ARBA and VHDinfo.com are involved in discussion with their members and the general public. Should you seek direct info beyond this email regarding this outbreak, The Coalition suggests contacting one of those orgs. Although individual Coalition volunteers may be willing to provide further info, The Coalition will not be involved in the massive organization of education and out reach as we were during the initial, and only other official outbreak.

We will utilize our energy to provide info as we have done in the past, through our online content.

Speaking of which, the realities of RHD have not changed since written of on our website. To refresh your memory on safety and other issues, as well as printable educational materials, go to http://www.vhdcoalition.org

The only article of importance not linked to easily is on disinfection and can be found Here

If you live in an area that is now at risk, please keep in mind that a Rabbit kept indoors is safer than one outdoors. Limit your contact with wildlife and domestic animals who may have the virus hitch-hiking on it's fur and in body secretions.

In addition, do remember, the USDA does not have jurisdiction over Rabbits. Your State may or may not have the same.
