No More Nice - Email To List August 27, 2001

As advised last week, APHIS asked us to send an email with our questions. The questions were to involved to send as an email. We therefore are sending them via hard copy.

We have placed the letter on our site for you to view.

Letter To APHIS August 2001

You will note that we have changed our stance. We have never taken a strong stand re eradication vs vaccination. Eradication is only effective if utilized with other actions such as education, border controls, and product safety. Our strong stance is due to two factors.

  • The input we have received from all of you.


  • The intense research Coalition Founders have done over the past year regarding the science, politics, and realities of RHD. No, we have not been idle. We have concluded that APHIS has not done all that could be done, that to many questions have gone unanswered, that it is time to act.

    Of the latter we will say that the issues are greater than those APHIS is currently willing to address. We have actually studied the actions taken, well not taken is probably a truer statement, of three federal agencies. We ask that you study the science before taking an emotional stand. We have spoken to some of the worlds leading virologists, genetic researchers, and veterinarians, from both the private sector and academia. We are offering much of the material through our site and will offer more compelling articles soon.

    This stand would have been taken without the current outbreak. In fact it is evidence of the insidious nature of RHD that it would strike four months before we are truly ready. So be it. We agreed to this battle and will stand as called.

    If you are a volunteer, or want to be one, please use this outbreak to educate. This is a good time for press releases. Please contact us if you need assistance in formatting. Documents are on the web to distribute with your org or ours. We have attempted to make the fliers and other documents available on PDF. That has not happened.
