Strategy Planning - Sent Out December 14, 2001
The chat held last night to discuss planning strategies for safeguarding Rabbits in the Us against RHD led to the following decisions by the participants.- 1. The first action to be taken is to create a Press Release and Letter to the Editor for distribution. The purpose of the documents will be to increase awareness of the existence and threat of RHD.
- 2. A distribution date will be scheduled and participants will begin encouraging others to participate in a wide scale release upon that date.
- 3. In concurrence with the Press Release day, letters will be created to be sent to government agencies asking that research efforts and safeguards against RHD be increased.
- 4. The need for on going planning was recognized and subsequently a weekly chat was scheduled. Chats will be held on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm pacific time in TalkCity.com. The Chatroom home page is http://j.talkcity.com/GroupHome?group_id=244249

The chats are open to all interested in taking proactive steps to safeguard Rabbits from RHD. Talk Citys system includes an offer to register as a club member or enter as a guest. We have set the controls to allow nonmembers to participate. We have also allowed an open door policy for all files, bookmarks, discussions and invitations so as to encourage everyone to spread information.
In regards to the current outbreak investigation;
We are still waiting for information from the Queens Zoo/Wildlife Center regarding the outbreak. They have responded to our inquiries and we can only assume they are putting together their answers.
No further word from APHIS has been received.
