The following form will allow you to write a letter to the State Veterinarian of California, Dr. Richard Breitmeyer. We'll print it up, send it to you along with a envelope addressed to Dr. Breitmeyer. We will also send you a copy of your letter(s) for your files. All you have to do is put it in the mail. The information you submit will not be kept by the Coalition. After the letter is sent to you the file will be deleted and will not be shared with anyone.

The points we are addressing are;

Classifying Rabbits as livestock is not acceptable.
Please close California borders to rabbits and products derived from rabbits and hares from countries where RHD and EBHV are endemic.
Would testing be done before euthanizing any animal suspected of infection?
What baseline level of antibody response is expected in California Rabbits prior to RHD infection? The level in Australia was 30%, is it higher in CA due to increased exposure to Caliciviruses? Should there not be testing of all California animals to determine the level of Caliciviral infection?
What jurisdiction does the State Vet's office claim over rabbits?

While you are here, you can also write a letter to the Department of Fish and Game asking them to protect California Wildlife by closing California borders to rabbits and products derived from rabbits and hares from countries where RHD and EBHV are endemic.
